Project Information

Providing training and teaching opportunities for pastors and church leaders.

Describe the need affecting community

Tanzania has a high rate of unemployment even among college graduates. There is also a high rate of people with higher education either leaving the country to look for work elsewhere or concentrating in small areas of the country leaving a large area under resources for development. This is even more true of the church, which lacks any other institutes of higher education, and consequently of well educated leaders ready to lead the church into a more faithful growth and ministry.

How will this Advance project help to address the need?

Wesley College will work to form professional, servant leaders who will both have the skills to produce professional work, but will also be formed in the servant leader model in order to work towards the development of their country and the Church in Tanzania. Wesley College will also have a first of its kind in Tanzania, as a service learning center that will create experiential and practical learning opportunities for students. As well as creating formational opportunities through all programs of studies to help both professional competence and the development of servant leadership.

Describe the primary goal of the project

To produce professional, well-equipped servant leaders for work in the church and community.

Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project

We would like to see an increase of educated, equipped community leaders that can generate sustainable, needed change in their communities.
