Describe the need affecting community
Palestinian refugee communities have lived in limbo for over 60 years. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza, caused by the Israeli blockade, continues and basic services are still lacking. Unemployment and marginalization among Palestinians are on the rise in the context of the ongoing Israeli occupation and growing number of settlements in the West Bank. Over many years, DSPR/MECC has developed much-needed vocational, health, and community development programs that address the issues facing Palestinian refugee and general Palestinian population in Gaza, West Bank, Nazareth, Jordan, and Lebanon.
How will this Advance project help to address the need?
DSPR enjoys a learning culture embodied in it performance. Throughout our journey we have continuously governed by contextual changes that necessitated immediate response and adaptation to emerging needs. Today we are implementing the third cycle of our strategic plan which carries a very challenging but needed element which is reflected in the seeing DSPR as a unit. With that we were successful and we are geared towards strategic directions with vibrant program being implemented in the region.
Describe the primary goal of the project
DSPR aims at contributing to the building up of better living conditions for Palestinians, refugees and needy others, in order that they live with dignity and keep hope for a better tomorrow thus promoting their basic rights and contributing to reconciliation with the different contexts in which they live. Hopefully, this will contribute towards a just and lasting political solution in which Palestinian refugees can exercise their right to self determination, including the Right of Return as stipulated by international resolutions, as agreed by the different parties.
