Kaloa, Eemis Kahole

Eemis Kahole Kaloa is an international Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, serving a two-year term dedicated to faith-based service and social justice.
The Global Mission Fellows program empowers young adults (ages 20-30) by placing them in new mission contexts, fostering active community participation and cross-cultural connections. It encourages fellows to live out their faith while growing as servant leaders committed to justice and social transformation.
Eemis is a lay member of Kamina Ville United Methodist Church, affiliated with the North Katanga Annual Conference. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management from Africa University in Zimbabwe.
Raised in a Christian family, Eemis was immersed in faith and service. With her grandparents and parents serving as pastors in the DRC, she was inspired by their unwavering commitment to God and community. “Their dedication shaped my values of compassion, resilience and faith-driven action,” she recalled. “They taught me the importance of a personal relationship with God, trusting in God’s promises, and embracing the responsibility of serving others.”
Her journey in ministry began in childhood, progressing from Sunday school to leadership roles in the youth committee. She served as an usher, choir member, project manager and volunteer. As youth secretary and Christian education leader in Kamina, she nurtured her faith while guiding others in their spiritual growth.
The loss of her father in 2016 marked a turning point. With the church’s support, Eemis and her sister were able to complete their undergraduate studies at Africa University. “This unwavering support transformed what seemed like a hopeless situation into one filled with promise and opportunity,” she said.
At Africa University, Eemis deepened her understanding of servant leadership as a project manager for the choir. Coordinating fundraising, organizing outreach initiatives and fostering unity among members reinforced her belief that faith must be active and transformative. “Faith is more than words; it requires action, sacrifice and an unwavering commitment to making a difference in people’s lives,” she explained. “Through the choir, I saw how music could be a ministry, bringing healing and encouragement to diverse audiences. These experiences solidified my passion for using my skills and leadership to serve beyond the church, reaching those in need in tangible and meaningful ways.”
Her work with World Vision International and Mukuru Cares strengthened her conviction that mission work extends beyond spiritual guidance. It involves addressing physical needs while restoring dignity, hope and love. “Through organizing donations, coordinating events for orphanages and advocating for children’s rights, I saw how small acts of kindness create lasting impact,” she said.
“Mission work is about walking alongside people in their struggles, listening to their stories and embodying God’s love in their lives.”
Eemis feels called to mission work because she has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of faith-driven service. “Whether feeding the hungry, comforting the brokenhearted or providing education opportunities, every act of service restores hope and faith,” she noted. “Mission work allows me to be a vessel of change, empowering individuals and building resilient communities.”
She believes true fulfillment comes from answering God’s call to serve. “Through faith, compassion and action, I am committed to uplifting and inspiring hope wherever I am sent. I am ready to dedicate my life to mission, using my gifts to make a difference and being a faithful steward of God’s grace worldwide.”
For Eemis, the Global Mission Fellows program aligns perfectly with her desire to live out her faith through service. “I am eager to immerse myself in a new community, addressing challenges while embodying justice and love. This program provides a platform to further my mission bringing hope, sharing God’s love and fostering lasting change.”
She also sees the program as an opportunity for growth. “By working in a community setting, I will gain deeper insights into addressing complex issues, navigating cultural diversity and developing innovative problem-solving approaches,” Eemis said. “These experiences will refine my leadership style, enabling me to inspire and empower those around me.”
“Through Global Mission Fellows, I hope to honor the support I once received by paying it forward, sharing the same hope and resilience that helped me grow. This journey will prepare me to be a servant leader, dedicated to creating a world where faith and justice go hand in hand.”
Fluent in French, English, Swahili, Lingala, Kiluba and Shona, Eemis is confident that her language skills will help her connect with diverse communities, fostering communication and trust. “By combining my education, skills and experiences,” she said, “I am ready to contribute to the fellowship’s mission of promoting justice, equity and sustainable change.”
