Stefany Valentina Escobar Diaz is an international Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service.

The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.

She obtained a degree in agricultural engineering and a pre-specialization diploma in the environment, climate change and organic agriculture at the Monseñor Oscar Arnulfo Romero University in El Salvador. She also studied Technician in Financial Administration and Business Administration and Specialization in Digital Strategic Marketing.

Stefany volunteered with CENTA Agricultural Technology Center, providing technical assistance to rural producers for their crops. “Through talks and agricultural practices,” she said, “rural producers were taught how to protect their crops from pests and [how to do] water management.”

At the Jesus King of the Universe Ministry [Pentecostal], Stefany participates in the church’s prayer group and different cells that take place in the communities.

Throughout her life, Stefany has had a sincere desire to serve others by being a disciple guided by the love of Jesus Christ.

“The happiest moments,” she said, “have been when I have been able to help others, whether they are elderly, children or young people, since we can always do more and bring the love of our loved ones and for our brothers and sisters.

Stefany is excited about serving in mission. “Global Mission Fellows,” she said, “opens the door to that world where we can contribute a grain of sand to help others, no matter the distance we travel because love does not know borders.

“I hope to put all my effort and give my best for this mission. I hope to teach and learn every day because I know that learning never ends. I am happy that my faith is going to cross borders.”

She is enthusiastic about the opportunities that GMF offers to young adults, especially women.

“Despite the adversity,” she said, “our faith and love for others give us strength to move forward. May our faith be that great engine to perform in the best way everything that is told to us, and may our service to others reflect our Lord Jesus Christ through each of us.

“May we take this love, this joy, this service to an even higher level that does not blur what love for others is. Thank you, Global Mission Fellows, for opening this door and giving us this opportunity.”
