Mobility Worldwide MO-Columbia Carts
Project Information
Providing mobility in 3 models for leg handicapped persons in developing countries
Describe the need affecting community
How will this Advance project help to address the need?
By promoting and sharing Mobility Worldwide’s stories and needs. By fundraising to purchase the needed items for production that are not donated, to operate the shop & warehouse, and pay for shipping around the world.
Describe the primary goal of the project
To provide free of charge rugged mobility to the leg handicapped. The Mobility Cart is simply made with wood, steel and solid rubber tires (no flats) and is hand powered (small & large). Or we have a Pull version for those who do not have upper body strength or mental coordination either. We have had reports of 8 and 10 year old carts. With some maintenance, they can last for many years. We also send replacement parts for maintenance like new tires for older carts.
Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project
We want to see the cart recipients more involved in their communities/have fuller lives and their physical and mental health possibly improve as well. We continue to seek out avenues to do follow up evaluations of the recipients in the field. We continue to look at the design and longevity of the cart.
