Providing food, modern farming methods and agricultural training for the communities

Describe the need affecting community

Since 2008, when the United Methodist Church in Malawi was recognized as a Missionary Conference, it has seen itself to be insecure of food, and also having the lack in other empowerment activities. Through contracting the Permaculture, new methods of farming were learned and the church is still working towards making Malawians food secure, by the use of what was acquired from Permaculture.

How will this Advance project help to address the need?

1)The fact that people will not be using old and unimproved ways of farming, it is obvious that they will have bumper yields therefore will make the food secure. 2) Business opportunities to the women will help them to sustain their families. 3) Irrigation will enable our farms to produce twice or three times a year. This will make the farms have more funds and become more of a self sustained project at the same making our nation food secure.

Describe the primary goal of the project

The purpose is to grow enough food in local areas to feed the communities. Once people establish successful gardens to feed their families, they can begin selling crops and animals in order to earn income for themselves and support their churches through tithes.

Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project

a. Increase in farming production at all levels from farm to individual family level. b. That business is done profitably.
