Providing education, healthcare and recreational activities for at-risk children.
Describe the need affecting community
The children at Sharanam are largely found living in horrible conditions in slums, on the streets, at railway stations or in the red-light district or orphaned throughout Mumbai. These children come from various backgrounds across India as many of their families have attempted to escape rural poverty in their home states by seeking employment in Mumbai. Upon arrival in Mumbai, their dreams of a better life are often crushed by the lack of job opportunities, and affordable housing. Which many families end up living on the streets, or in overcrowded and unsafe housing. Children are often subject to abuse and runaway due to these horrible living conditions.
How will this Advance project help to address the need?
