Advance #14917A
Project Information
Providing scholarships for aspiring pastors to gain theological training.
Describe the need affecting community
There is a shortage of pastors serving in the Methodist Church in Cambodia. There is also an urgent need to develop the leadership and skills for ministry of lay people who could assist pastors in the ministry in the local churches and the larger community.
How will this Advance project help to address the need?
We hope and pray for a growing supply of lay people who will carry out ministries in and through the local churches alongside their pastors. Through the project, we also expect an increasing number of young people who will commit their lives to full-time ministry in and through our churches.
Describe the primary goal of the project
The project will make possible the education and training of prospective new pastors and lay people for ministry in and through the local churches.
Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project
Our churches will be supplied with pastors appointed by the Bishop. And, there will be active lay people who will assist the pastors in the care of churches, and church members, as well as minister in the larger community.
