Providing Christian formation courses for Methodist pastors, youth and education for children

Describe the need affecting community

The IEMB needs a retreat center in a spiritual location and affordable. The national pastors, lay pastors, women and other groups, need a place where they can have a spiritual retreat to strengthen their work and their spiritual lives. The GBGM missionaries, Gordon and Ardell Graner, built the Thiu Rancho Center to be that place, and it has served as the IEMB primary center since 1992. over the years it has hosted 200 or more spiritual and training events, the center and the meetings that are held there are critical to the spiritual formation and organization of the IEMB.

How will this Advance project help to address the need?

Thiu rancho is the only retreat center owned and operated for the IEMB and has been serving this need since 1992.

Describe the primary goal of the project

When the Grayners left, Thiu Rancho Center continued to function very effectively under the direction of a National Pastor of the IEMB, however, funds for repair and maintenance began to dramatically decrease. An there is a need for extensive repairs and maintenance to bring the center back to where it was in 2012.

Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project

We hope that by improving center facilities we will improve the spiritual experience for the pastors, lay leaders, and the people that will have their retreats at the center. This will come to have people involved and help lead spiritual reformation of the IEMB.
