Describe the need affecting community
How will this Advance project help to address the need?
Young girls from far-off places like Sundarbans areas, remote villages and slum areas are deprived of better educational environment, and their all round growth and developments. River tributries, lack of roads, non electricity, single parent status, poverty, and lack of medical facilities. Especially for the growing young girls, there is still barriers with education for them. Since the foundation of the school started, the school has devoted itself to uplift these unreached children. By providing a safe boarding environment, food, clothing, and good health to educate these girls. This is the best possible way the school can provide the total development of their personalities, and help them to become an ideal example in their families, community, and in the society. These days, people are enlighten and they are aware of the value of education. The only problem is they are helpless because of their compelling circumstances. To bridge their needs, Lee Memorial Mission is trying to increase the capacity of the boarders of the hostel/home.
Describe the primary goal of the project
Mrs. Ada Lee’s objective when building the Lee Memorial Mission more than a century ago was to spread the word of our Lord Jesus Christ in the city of Calcutta. Children brought into the home are provided a secure life. All round education is provided to the children with an endeavor to teach the children simple hygienic living for a healthy body and mind. The lives that are saved and nurtured continues to grow and serve as a witness to others. Therefore, it is an ongoing process and endeavor to spread the Word of God.
Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project
We would like to see the development of the communities from where the children are coming from, to the children who will be staying in the boarding.
