How will this Advance project help to address the need?
The Methodist Church Ghana will address the stated need by providing vocational education to vulnerable young women in selected rural areas of the country. With skills that enhance their employment opportunities. Young women will be better able to provide for themselves, and their future families. Whether they choose to remain in their village or nearby small towns, or even move to the larger cities of the South. By addressing the problem at the source, in the rural community itself, the church hopes to stem the flow of this economic migration, which will breaking the cycle of poverty. Moral and sexual health education will also help to guard against some of the worst outcomes for these young women.
Describe the primary goal of the project
To equip poorly-educated rural girls with the skills they will need to reduce their vulnerability and become economically self-sufficient and productive members of society.
Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project
The Methodist Church would like to see young women become positive contributors to their communities, able to provide for themselves with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
