Kafakumba Pastors’ School and Scholarship
Country: Zambia
Advance #11438A
Project Information
Training pastors 4-6 weeks a year for 8 years in spiritual formation & holistic ministry.
Describe the need affecting community
Zambia considers itself a Christian nation. Like most sub-Saharan African countries, it has a long history of Christian missionaries. Nearly everyone has heard the gospel in some form and most call themselves Christians. However, the need for transformation is evident. Stealing, lying and cheating are prevalent. The training of pastors in spiritual formation is so that they can “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” I can’t think of anything Zambia needs more!
How will this Advance project help to address the need?
By training leaders who are themselves transformed to transform others, the hope is that Zambia, bit by bit (or “panono, panono” as they say here) will experience the transformation of Christ.
Describe the primary goal of the project
The Goal of this project is to support the mission of the United Methodist Church (i.e. “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world).
Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project
We would like to see less stealing, less spousal abuse, more healthy families, more people of Christian character.
