ATLANTA — Global Ministries is excited to announce the reopening of applications on Oct. 15 for the Global Mission Fellows (GMF) US-2 program, offering young adults an opportunity to serve in mission in the United States.

Since 1951, young adults have served as US-2s, crossing boundaries and forming meaningful relationships to better understand and address the needs of local communities. Fellows witness deep-rooted systems of injustice in their own country and learn how to advocate for change.

Following a season of re-envisioning, the US-2 track is relaunching with a focused cohort based in Alaska. US-2 fellows will serve within and alongside Indigenous communities, engaging in ministry with children, older adults, and people facing limited access to livelihood resources, like the unhoused and food insecure.

In their placement sites coordinated through the Alaska Conference of the UMC, fellows will work alongside local churches and partner organizations to support community priorities. US-2 service will begin with a one-year commitment, and fellows are strongly encouraged to remain for a second year to continue building relationships and deepening community engagement.

Interested young adults, ages 20-30, should begin by reviewing the Frequently Asked Questions list, exploring the discernment guide to reflect on their call to mission, and consulting the application checklist to prepare the necessary materials. Applications open Oct. 15, 2026, and close on Jan. 5, 2027. Visit the Global Mission Fellows US-2 webpage for access to the FAQs, discernment guide, checklist, and application.

Begin here.
