Texas Flooding

November 2025 | As survivors continue to recover, UMCOR is continuing our support of the Rio Texas Annual Conference’s response efforts through a long-term recovery grant. The funds will establish Rio Texas’s Disaster Recovery program, which will support the flood-impacted communities and address their long-term needs.

January 2026 | Grants were awarded to the Western North Carolina, South Carolina, South Georgia and Holston conferences to offset the cost of attendance for those interested in expanding their understanding of disaster ministry and becoming better equipped to aid recovery in the aftermath of disasters.

DRC Conflict

In January, an escalation in fighting between the M23 rebel group and government forces displaced, injured and endangered hundreds of thousands of civilians in the city of Goma. UMCOR awarded a solidarity grant to the East Congo Episcopal Area to support immediate needs of the displaced.

In 2025, UMCOR responded to 30 floods, 11 tropical storms, 6 tornadoes, 29 migration events, 7 events of mass violence/civil unrest and 5 fires.

In 2025, approximately 267,976 people aided by disaster response work, 92,171 by global migration programs, 930 by environmental programs and 1,080 impacted by the Yambasu Agriculture Initiative.
