Church Steps Up Ebola Response in Congo

A coalition of United Methodist partners are working together to meet medical and communications needs to prevent Ebola’s further spread in the region.

A coalition of United Methodist partners are working together to meet medical and communications needs to prevent Ebola’s further spread in the region.

Drawing on experience from previous Ebola virus outbreaks, a coalition of United Methodist partners, including the East Congo Health Board, United Methodist health facilities in the affected region, Global Ministries, and United Methodist Communications are working together to meet medical needs and communications needs to prevent Ebola’s further spread in the region.

Dr. Damas Lushima, coordinator for the East Congo Health Board notes, “This experience allows us to act quickly by mobilizing our health facilities, our community network and our church leaders to provide a complementary response to the efforts of the government and response partners.”
