Venezuela Earthquakes

Venezuela experienced two major earthquakes on June 24, 2026. The pair of earthquakes were the worst to hit the country in nearly six decades. Global Ministries and UMCOR are responding through support to our humanitarian and ecumenical partners in Venezuela and Latin America. See response updates below.

July 2 | UMCOR made a $50,000 contribution to the ACT Alliance appeal in support of the distribution of food, water, health supplies and psychosocial care, as well as shelter and family tracing and reunification efforts. UMCOR also awarded a $10,000 solidarity grant for partner Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) that will cover food rations, debris clearance for access, and mobile medical unit interventions.

June 25 | Thousands have died and thousands more remain injured or missing, with several of the hardest-hit areas not yet searched. Though rescue and relief efforts are underway, recovery is expected to be difficult due to Venezuela’s vulnerable infrastructure and political environment. Global Ministries and UMCOR are coordinating with partner organizations on the ground who are conducting assessments in order to provide emergency assistance.
