On September 30, just before 10 p.m. local time, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck the central province of Cebu in the Philippines, leading to the deaths of at least 69 people and causing catastrophic damage and destruction.
In response, UMCOR is actively supporting response efforts through our United Methodist partners in the Philippines, including providing an emergency relief grant to assist with immediate needs such as food, water, shelter, and hygiene supplies. These efforts are carried out in close collaboration with local Methodist leaders, organizations and trained disaster response volunteers, ensuring that aid reaches those who are most vulnerable.
