Colombia Earthquake

On Aug. 10, the people of Colombia were impacted by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake, the strongest to strike the country in the last decade. More than 100 people have died, and thousands more are injured, missing, or have been displaced from their homes.

UMCOR is supporting our humanitarian and ecumenical partners in Colombia and across Latin America. A solidarity grant to the Colombian Methodist Church (CMC) will provide humanitarian assistance to families in Cali who have been directly impacted by the earthquake through the distribution of food and essential household items. UMCOR’s support will expand their reach and help them cover the needs of as many survivors as possible in the region.

We remain in close communication with partners and stand ready to offer additional relief and long-term support to Colombia.
