January 2026 | Grants were awarded to the Western North Carolina, South Carolina, South Georgia and Holston conferences to offset the cost of attendance for those interested in expanding their understanding of disaster ministry and becoming better equipped to aid recovery in the aftermath of disasters.
July 2025 | The Western North Carolina Conference was awarded an additional grant of over $1,000,000 to extend its disaster management efforts for another year. As 35 of the 44 counties within the conference area faced significant damage, the focus is restoring safe housing for the community, addressing the needs of survivors and rebuilding.
July 2025 | The South Carolina Conference was awarded an additional grant of over $755,000 to extend its disaster management efforts for another year, as over 5,000 homes sustained significant damage.
June – July 2025 | The South Georgia Conference was awarded a $335,000 grant to support long-term disaster recovery for another year. The North Georgia Conference also received a grant to hire a disaster response coordinator to strengthen relationships between conferences and support disaster preparedness across the state.
May 2025 | The Holston Conference was awarded an additional grant of over $460,000 to extend its disaster management efforts for another year.
November – December 2024 |The Holston Conference was issued a recovery grant followed by both the Western North Carolina and South Carolina conferences. The grants ranged from roughly $100,000 to over $220,000 to bolster the initial response efforts in the communities.
October 2024 | The North Georgia Conference partnered with UMCOR and was the first conference to deploy the entire array of the mobile solar power station in Camp Tygart, GA., offering a renewable energy source for a community that had gone days without power or running water. Read more.
September 2024 | Solidarity grants were awarded to the North Georgia, South Georgia, Western North Carolina and Holston annual conferences. Early Response Teams (ERTs) were dispatched and began coordinated efforts to support the removal of debris, tarping of roofs, and cleaning out of homes in hard-hit areas.
