Cyclones Ditwah and Senyar

In late November, several countries in Southeast Asia were impacted by catastrophic flooding and landslides. Cyclones Ditwah and Senyar, supercharged by climate change-related conditions, led to the deaths of more than 1,500 people and the displacement of millions in Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

In response, UMCOR has awarded solidarity grants to Yakkum Emergency Unit in North Sumatra, Indonesia and AMCOR in Sri Lanka. These grants will support our partners as they provide immediate relief to those in need of shelter, food, medical supplies and more. As the impacted communities recover, UMCOR will remain in communication with aid partners in the region as they provide aid and relief to the millions of affected residents.
