Connecting U.S. conferences, churches and individuals with global United Methodist partners to help new faith communities grow and thrive, focusing on long-term development and self-sufficiency.

Facilitating Mission Partnerships

In Mission Together is a network of U.S. churches and global partners supporting new faith communities, focusing on long-term growth, self-sufficiency and mutual respect. Partners commit to one another in service, support and prayer through the In Mission Together Covenant, agreeing to work together using each community’s skills and resources.

Opportunities

Albania (Central and Southern Europe Episcopal Area)

The United Methodist Church (UMC) in Albania is a young church in a country with a communist past and current social, political and economic struggles. With three urban churches and one rural location, the church aims to make a difference by living as disciples and making new ones, as well as seeking connections with other UMC groups worldwide to share experiences and grow together.

Baltic and Nordic Ukraine and Moldova (Nordic-Baltic Episcopal Area)

The United Methodist Church in Ukraine is developing a strategy to address the challenges caused by the war. This includes providing humanitarian aid, supporting a dispersed church, and training new leaders to spread hope through ministries, even in times of crisis.

Central Asia (Eurasia Episcopal Area)

The Central Asia Mission Initiative works to strengthen existing churches in and plant new faith communities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. It addresses both spiritual and physical needs in the region since the breakup of the Soviet Union.

Czech Republic (Central and Southern Europe Episcopal Area)

The United Methodist Church in the Czech Republic seeks to build a strong, cooperative relationship with churches in the United States to work together to share in God’s mission.

Eurasia-Russia and Belarus (Eurasia Episcopal Area)

The Eurasian United Methodist Church, started in 1991, aims to create a self-sustaining church with its 2022 Roadmap focusing on church leadership, evangelism and social outreach. The goal is to develop strong Methodist communities and share resources globally.

Hungary (Central and Southern Europe Episcopal Area)

The United Methodist Church (UMC) in Hungary faces financial and facility challenges, in part because of its minority status and the past communist regime. Despite this, the church provides important social services, including outreach to the poor, especially the Roma community, as well as homes for the elderly, youth programs and a secondary school in Budapest.

Latvia (Nordic-Baltic Episcopal Area)

This project supports the growth and sustainability of The United Methodist Church in Latvia by empowering both pastors and laypeople, providing training, and helping with pastors’ salaries. It also supports various church ministries.

Lithuania (Nordic-Baltic Episcopal Area)

This project supports church development in Lithuania, pastor salaries, leadership training, and outreach efforts to spread the gospel.

North Macedonia (Central and Southern Europe Episcopal Area)

This project partners U.S. churches with Macedonian churches for long-term mission work. The goal is for both churches to learn from and support each other. They work together on mission projects, such as providing meals and humanitarian aid, using their combined strengths.

Poland (Central and Southern Europe Episcopal Area)

UMC Poland wants to continue and start to develop new partnerships with U.S. partner churches and start a new school program of ministry for each district to help train new leadership in the congregation and help in growing local churches.

Romania (Central and Southern Europe Episcopal Area)

This project provides financial support for UMC churches in Romania. Established in 2011, the church is involved in social and spiritual work, such as helping teenagers in orphanages, working with Roma families, and planting new churches. Financial support will help these efforts grow and continue.

Serbia (Central and Southern Europe Episcopal Area)

This project supports pastors’ salaries, outreach, and building construction, helping the church grow and strengthen its ministries in Serbia.
