As an agency of The United Methodist Church, Global Ministries collaborates with partners in more than 100 countries to connect the church in mission and alleviate human suffering.
Our work is made possible in collaboration with partners and with support of donors who come together from all around the world to participate in Missio Dei, “God’s Mission.”
Global Ministries supports missionaries in nearly 60 countries who serve in a variety of roles and placements, all with the goal of fulfilling the mission of The United Methodist Church: “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
Global Ministries nurtures new Methodist communities and helps existing ones grow, provides training and scholarships for church leaders, and supports racial and ethnic ministries.
Global Ministries and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) respond to humanitarian crises through disaster relief and recovery, migrant and refugee support, environmental sustainability, agriculture and food security.
Global Ministries improves the health and well-being of communities by strengthening healthcare services, eliminating preventable diseases like malaria and HIV and AIDS, and supporting vulnerable groups such as mothers, newborns and children.
As Christians, we are called to respond with love and courage to today’s urgent challenges— forced migration, systemic injustice, war and conflict, and global inequity.

McCune’s United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) connection put him in touch with Global Ministries’ Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program.
A WASH grant allowed them to obtain a 500-gallon “water buffalo.” The conference disaster response team arranged to fill the portable water buffalo from the Welch water system, the county seat of McDowell, and transport it to Gary, where residents have been supplied with refillable containers. Residents of all three towns can come to get water, and volunteers will also continue deliveries for those who need it.
