In mid-March, a “monster” storm system impacted the Central U.S. In Northern Illinois, at least four tornadoes and heavy winds impacted the region, while in Oklahoma, heavy winds fueled wildfires across the state. In response, UMCOR awarded solidarity grants to the Oklahoma and Northern Illinois annual conferences to support immediate relief efforts. In June, UMCOR awarded an additional recovery grant to the Oklahoma Annual Conference to provide long-term support for survivors of the tornadoes in the state.
