On Saturday, Oct.7, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake devastated Afghanistan, killing nearly 3,000 people and displacing thousands. Powerful aftershocks caused more destruction. UMCOR has supported a long-time partner with two grants, one for emergency food and non-food items and a second to primarily provide secure and hygienic shelter that includes access to water and sanitation facilities as well as WASH education for affected communities.
