UMCOR coordinated with partners to respond to several humanitarian crises in the Republic of Sudan, where political factions wage armed conflict, and the separate country of South Sudan, where drought and acute famine are widespread. One grant will serve 600 South Sudanese returnees and Sudanese refugees with food, mosquito nets and water filters. Another, in partnership with Water is Basic and Women’s Empowerment Solutions Initiative (WESI), distributed food, mosquito netting and water filters to South Sudanese returning from Sudan.
