Benjamin Langeni Mndeme is a Global Mission Fellow (International) with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service. He is part of the 2021-2023 Global Mission Fellow cohort.

The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.

From Dar es Salaam, Benjamin is a member of Christian Salvation Fellowship Church, Dodoma, Tanzania. The church is part of the Tanzania Annual Conference. A local missionary, Benjamin is involved in evangelism. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education studies from The University of Dodoma, Tanzania.

“My spiritual progress,” Benjamin said, “has been increasing day by day, especially when I study the Scriptures and spend time in prayer as my daily devotion.” Meeting with other Christians to discuss God’s word and sharing his faith with the community enriches him spiritually. Benjamin’s faith is also nurtured as he participates in regular worship and serves as a church leader. “This is my calling experience,” he said.

He recalled one day in particular. “The Holy Spirit placed a burden and a strong desire in me as I studied the word of God and prayed,” Benjamin said. “Suddenly,  the Lord, through his word, taught me about taking the gospel to the lost. He told me about the great commission to go all over the world and share the good news with the lost souls.” God directed him to read Matthew 10:6 and Matthew 28:19.

“I began to see the burden, ambition and strong desire of preaching the gospel of Christ Jesus to the unreached and helping them to know about Jesus and about salvation,” Benjamin said. Seeking opportunities to serve, he applied for the Global Mission Fellows program. He feels strongly, he said, that God wants him “to go into the whole world and preach the good news of salvation to others.”
