Eunsol Song is a Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service. She was commissioned on July 28, 2019.
The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.
Eunsol is a member of Disciples Methodist Church in Incheon, Korea, her hometown. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Kangnam University, Yongin, South Korea. She served as a volunteer and a staff member for the Youth with a Mission international ministry, worked in campus and Muslim ministries, and taught in a Korean-language institute.
“I was born a Christian, and I joined Youth with a Mission, the Christian club,” Eunsol said. “After that, I had many chances to go abroad for spreading the good news, and I was willing to go anywhere as a missionary. In 2016, the dream came true. I went to Thailand as a volunteer for helping ministries. That experience led me to follow God more strongly.” Since childhood, she added, “I had an abstract idea about ‘saving a life.’ I was willing to go abroad and serve the poor, orphans or whoever is suffering. Nowadays, I’m deeply thinking about physical and spiritual hunger. I want to be used to help [relieve] hunger.”
