Tapiwa Manyonga, a Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, was commissioned in August 2018. She is engaged in a two-year term of service as a community development worker with the Kapatiran Kaunlaran Foundation, a United Methodist-related institution.

The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.

Tapiwa is from Zimbabwe. She is a member of the Murewa United Methodist Mission in Murewa, Mashonaland East, a part of the Zimbabwe East Annual Conference. She holds a bachelor’s degree in development studies from Midland States University, Gweru, Zimbabwe, and has worked in communications.

“My faith journey has been filled with miracles and wonders,” Tapiwa says. “All my dreams have been fulfilled. What I thought would be impossible was made possible by God. All things have been working together for good in my life.”

She sees her call to mission as “the greatest news” in her life. One factor that led her to apply for the Global Mission Fellows program was the inspiration she felt reading the online biographies of other missionaries.
